Folks, I really need your help. I'm trying to contact people who either grew up in the Watsessing area or worked in Westinghouse or knew people who worked there. I understand if you are busy and don't have the time to speak with me, so I've created a one page survey that you don't even have to put your name on. After speaking with some people, I've expanded time frame: 1938-2000. Please know that anything you reply to will be respected as confidential which in this case means that no names will be used. My dad worked at Westinghouse in Bloomfield his entire life..and never missed one day of work his whole work career.
His name is Philip Mc Hugh and he worked his way up to Foreman of the Light Division..after coming to the US from Ireland at the age of 16..with an 8th grade education..He was the smartest, most well read man I have ever known...
He passed away in 2003 at the age of 89.
His wife, Muriel Fernald McHugh is still living and 87 years young.She worked at Westinghouse for a short time as well, fell in love with my dad, got married in 1948, and raised 10 children in the years they happily spent together.
